At STEWETRY12, we strive to create a space where artists of all levels can come to learn, grow, and design. Our mission is to inspire creativity and foster our community's love of the arts. Our vision is to provide countless classes, workshops, and events for artists of all ages and backgrounds.
About the Artist
Founded in 1995, STEWETRY12 has been a staple of the local arts community for over 25 years.
Craig Stewart grew up in the Point Breeze district of Pittsburgh. Craig, a self-taught artist striving to create a new art category, developed The Stewart Wall Mask". These three-dimensional compositions of found materials are staged around a paper-constructed subject and then set on a Masonite canvas. The canvas is then covered with fiberglass, hand-painted with enamel details, and finished with a marble or flex stone accent.
His work has been displayed in various galleries and fashion shows: The Ryupu Theater of Okinawa, Japan; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Oguli Gallery of Atlanta, Georgia; Kulture Gallery, Waldorf, Maryland, Stones Gallery, Artistic Impressions and Heritage Gallery of Maryland; North Star Gallery of Washington D.C. and the New York Art Expo and the Sebrof & Forbes Art Exhibit, Silver Spring, Maryland.
